Episode 155: "Live" at Sac-Anime 2025(Talks w/ Courtenay Taylor, William Salyers, Greg Chun)

Episode 155:

Once upon a time, Mike wasn't really into anime, but SAC Anime 2025 changed everything for him. Join us as we embark on a lively new chapter by adding video to our podcast, diving into the colorful world of SAC Anime, a convention that has become a beloved staple in our community. We've got exciting interviews and a few surprise appearances, like Ming Chen from AC Comic Book Band and actor Suly McCullough. Our guest, Chris Wisnia, joins us to explore the convention's vibrant atmosphere, sharing entertaining stories and insights into the creative energy that flows through events like these.

Ever wondered what it's like to meet your favorite voice actors? At SAC Anime, we had the chance to chat with iconic talents like Bill Sawyer and Courtney Taylor, who brought characters from shows like Squid Game and games like Fallout 4 to life. Amid the bustling convention, we found ourselves reflecting on the themes of family and connection, as well as the remarkable rise of Asian representation in media. Mike's initial hesitation towards anime quickly transformed into appreciation as we immersed ourselves in the diverse offerings of the event, proving that conventions are more than just a gathering—they're a celebration of storytelling and community.

Prepare for a rollercoaster of fun and thoughtful discussions, where gaming narratives meet civic engagement in unexpected ways. We touch upon everything from immersive gameplay experiences in Mass Effect to the importance of voting and community involvement. Plus, we've got some exciting updates and playful moments in store, teasing new content that promises to keep you entertained and engaged. Don't forget to connect with us through our website and social media to stay up to date with all our latest adventures. We're not just talking; we're creating a community, and we want you to be a part of it.

00:00:31.847 --> 00:00:33.767
Yeah, You're the Drew Brees of podcasting.

00:00:34.412 --> 00:00:36.466
Precision and podcasting.

00:00:38.322 --> 00:00:43.604
You know, just to think it's how only one of us technically won a quote-unquote award for Podcast Magazine.

00:00:43.604 --> 00:00:43.945
Remember.

00:00:45.768 --> 00:00:46.229
That's right.

00:00:46.229 --> 00:00:48.173
Let's keep my accolades coming.

00:00:48.173 --> 00:00:54.249
I like every episode to just start with All of my winnings since being on the podcast.

00:00:54.890 --> 00:01:03.826
Exactly, exactly, but this is video two of the podcast video era.

00:01:03.826 --> 00:01:05.531
I guess you call that our video era.

00:01:05.531 --> 00:01:10.061
You know, I think we got a good reception for our first video, so you know what?

00:01:10.061 --> 00:01:11.368
Thank you guys for listening, but now we have to be those guys.

00:01:11.368 --> 00:01:12.474
I didn't want us to ever be where we have to say this.

00:01:12.474 --> 00:01:13.519
All right, Be sure to like, subscribe and comment.

00:01:14.159 --> 00:01:15.063
I hate those guys.

00:01:15.825 --> 00:01:16.286
Yeah, well.

00:01:17.368 --> 00:01:18.152
Now we're those guys.

00:01:18.359 --> 00:01:19.423
Now we're those guys, yep.

00:01:19.423 --> 00:01:27.179
So be sure to like, comment and subscribe and be a part of our Uncle Dan community, because, truthfully, we love doing this and it's nothing more fun than getting you guys involved.

00:01:27.179 --> 00:01:31.831
And that's kind of what I like about the YouTube era, mike, is that now everybody can kind of be involved.

00:01:31.831 --> 00:01:32.721
I don't know, what do you think?

00:01:33.444 --> 00:01:34.608
Yeah, everyone can be involved.

00:01:34.608 --> 00:01:39.483
You can also leave constructive and uplifting comments for us too, right?

00:01:39.483 --> 00:01:46.180
You know we love constructive, positive, uplifting comments that make us feel good about what we're doing here.

00:01:46.180 --> 00:01:47.804
So, thank you, thank you.

00:01:48.265 --> 00:01:48.706
Exactly.

00:01:48.706 --> 00:01:49.186
Thank you.

00:01:49.388 --> 00:01:49.608
Yes.

00:01:50.430 --> 00:01:53.441
But today's episode I kind of want to throw something out there.

00:01:53.441 --> 00:01:59.144
Mike, you know this already, but the audience doesn't the actual body of the podcast will be all audio only.

00:01:59.144 --> 00:02:01.409
The video will just be you and I.

00:02:01.409 --> 00:02:15.104
The reason being is, when we were in this transitional period of figuring out what was kind of next for us, we recorded just as audio for this podcast and this is for the SAC Anime 2024, sorry, 2025 coverage, which we'll get to in a second.

00:02:15.104 --> 00:02:17.743
So, mike, even though this is audio, you still get a little bit of video.

00:02:17.743 --> 00:02:29.229
You're gonna get a nice little, nice little promo card done by you, yours truly or not yours truly, but you truly mine truly, my yours truly my, yours exactly, and you know they'll still get the experience and all that good stuff.

00:02:29.449 --> 00:02:31.604
We got to talk to some great people but again, we'll get to that.

00:02:31.604 --> 00:02:37.133
But, mike, I think the plan is because we have a camera we need to use, so we're going to start when we do those live shows.

00:02:37.152 --> 00:02:44.925
We'll record that, I think, right yes, yes, yes, we will record it and it'll be interesting because it's all going to be new.

00:02:44.925 --> 00:02:55.014
And now we're going to get to edit video footage with audio footage while being out in the field, so we're like walking on the moon here.

00:02:55.014 --> 00:02:56.694
I know that's freaking crazy.

00:02:56.715 --> 00:02:57.436
What's crazy is?

00:02:57.436 --> 00:02:59.377
He says we are going to edit.

00:03:04.697 --> 00:03:05.378
That's not true?

00:03:05.378 --> 00:03:07.742
Well, okay, let the listeners know.

00:03:07.742 --> 00:03:09.674
I did say I want to sit with you and watch how it's done, you know, so maybe I can help.

00:03:09.674 --> 00:03:14.287
I don't know, maybe I can hey, you say you stay tarot.

00:03:14.287 --> 00:03:18.721
Certified sex is all we need okay, I'll keep doing the promo cards and the logos.

00:03:18.721 --> 00:03:19.241
There we go.

00:03:19.241 --> 00:03:20.183
I'll stay in my lane.

00:03:20.183 --> 00:03:21.546
I hear what you're saying, okay.

00:03:22.328 --> 00:03:23.469
Totally just kidding, by the way.

00:03:23.770 --> 00:03:25.394
All right, too late.

00:03:27.221 --> 00:03:29.368
Let's talk about SAC Anime 2025.

00:03:29.368 --> 00:03:40.283
Mike, as you said in the actual episode, this was your first ever SAC Anime convention and, for those who don't know, you know the people behind it, so can you just give them a little summary of what SAC Anime is?

00:03:41.806 --> 00:03:49.816
Yeah, so SAC Anime is actually a shoot-off of SAC Con, which used to be called, years ago, sacramento Comic Convention.

00:03:49.816 --> 00:03:52.888
They used to hold it at the.

00:03:52.888 --> 00:04:09.747
For those that are familiar with the Sacramento area, there's the Scottish Rite Center, which is right across the street from SAC State in Sacramento, obviously, and the anime over the years started to get so big that it kind of was taking over the comic book aspect of the show of the cons.

00:04:09.747 --> 00:04:27.161
They started doing SAC anime as like an offshoot and that became much bigger than the actual SAC con, big enough, in fact, that there's now two of them a year, one at the beginning of the year one, I think, a labor day, and it's, I mean, they have at the convention center.

00:04:27.180 --> 00:04:29.408
There's like 30 000 people that come to this show now.

00:04:29.408 --> 00:04:39.822
So it's a very big show and they get a lot of great guests, a lot of good voice actors, video game voice actors, not just voice actors too.

00:04:39.822 --> 00:04:45.232
I mean they have a huge, a huge amount of, uh, of talent that comes in and then, yeah, tons of vendors.

00:04:45.232 --> 00:04:45.742
They have multiple floors.

00:04:45.742 --> 00:04:46.723
It's just, it's have a huge amount of talent that comes in and then, yeah, tons of vendors, they have multiple floors.

00:04:46.723 --> 00:04:49.730
It's become a huge, huge convention.

00:04:50.800 --> 00:04:59.512
Yeah, and it's a fun fact, that isn't the con that you and I met, but the SAC con is actually where me and Mike met many, many, many years ago.

00:05:00.220 --> 00:05:02.165
Yeah, before there was a SAC anime.

00:05:02.605 --> 00:05:04.610
Yeah, yeah, so shout out to that.

00:05:04.610 --> 00:05:05.773
There you go, friendships are made.

00:05:05.773 --> 00:05:09.807
That's what's so great about this con Friendships are made and podcasts are birthed.

00:05:11.639 --> 00:05:12.944
Yes, we have birthed.

00:05:12.944 --> 00:05:17.067
Yes, we have birthed something together.

00:05:17.480 --> 00:05:19.767
So you know, Mike, you're not really the biggest anime guy.

00:05:19.767 --> 00:05:22.401
Not that you don't like it, it just doesn't really speak to you.

00:05:22.401 --> 00:05:23.382
Is that right to say?

00:05:23.382 --> 00:05:24.524
Or you don't like it?

00:05:25.245 --> 00:05:26.485
I mean, I've watched some stuff.

00:05:26.485 --> 00:05:36.456
There's some cool things out there, so yeah, but I just in general it's not the thing that I'm most drawn to I would say yeah, and you know it's interesting because we go to a lot of cons that we talk about.

00:05:36.857 --> 00:05:42.904
Anime is kind of taking over, or it's been taking over the con, the con, comic-con, event, convention world.

00:05:42.904 --> 00:05:47.632
Even when we go to san diego comic-con, there's such an anime presence, which there's nothing wrong with that.

00:05:47.632 --> 00:05:52.026
And I was really kind of excited to do this con because we've never really done this one before.

00:05:52.026 --> 00:06:10.134
And not only did we get to meet, uh, three great uh voice actors, uh, two of which are from the mass effect series, uh, the regular show fallout, you know big, big things, and we also got to talk to somebody from the squid game, the american voice dub of the main character, which was a unique thing.

00:06:10.415 --> 00:06:11.158
I was thinking about that.

00:06:11.158 --> 00:06:12.802
I don't think we really have done that before.

00:06:12.802 --> 00:06:15.309
But also we got to, we got to see some friends.

00:06:15.309 --> 00:06:32.963
Yeah, we got to talk to uh, you know the show opens with and I guess I should preface this on on camera we have our own series of characters that come and go throughout the Uncle Dad world and one of them is actually going to kick off the show and his name is Chris Wisnia.

00:06:32.963 --> 00:06:37.343
Great, great guy, mike, I'm sure you'll say the same One of the best dudes in the world.

00:06:38.387 --> 00:06:39.500
Yeah, really funny.

00:06:39.500 --> 00:06:42.062
Talented dude, great artist, great musician.

00:06:42.062 --> 00:06:45.043
Yeah, one of the sweetest humans that you'll ever meet for sure.

00:06:45.704 --> 00:06:46.803
Yeah, and he kicks off the show.

00:06:46.803 --> 00:06:49.685
So you know, that person you hear isn't Mike, it's somebody else.

00:06:49.685 --> 00:06:54.048
But as you continue to listen through our YouTube era, you're going to see a lot of fun.

00:06:54.048 --> 00:06:55.288
People come back and forth.

00:06:55.288 --> 00:06:56.728
But, yeah, we had Chris Wisney.

00:06:56.728 --> 00:07:04.173
We got to meet up with another friend of ours named Imanek, and you can learn about all these people by going back to the catalog and going to UncleDadTalkscom.

00:07:04.173 --> 00:07:05.733
Isn't that right, mike?

00:07:06.194 --> 00:07:06.694
That's right.

00:07:06.694 --> 00:07:13.177
Yeah, we even had the Bracket Monster there along with us and, yeah, all of these guys are on multiple episodes.

00:07:13.177 --> 00:07:21.053
So, yeah, they're part of the Uncle Dad family, which, yeah, it's good to have some people like help carry the weight, because you know, we do a lot of work here, man.

00:07:21.379 --> 00:07:25.307
Yeah, we sure do, we do, especially the Terra-certified one.

00:07:25.949 --> 00:07:33.189
That's right, man, my goodness, my hands are tired from making all this art.

00:07:33.370 --> 00:07:34.151
God, that sounded so fake.

00:07:34.151 --> 00:07:40.160
Yeah, mike, at the end of the day, what was your thoughts of SAC Anime 2025?

00:07:40.160 --> 00:07:43.449
As a non-anime goer, did you dig it?

00:07:44.459 --> 00:07:56.007
You know what People have been saying to me, that I should have a booth there for years, and I'm always like, no, I don't do anime, I don't sell anime, it doesn't matter and it really doesn't.

00:07:56.007 --> 00:08:05.752
There were a lot of anime guests that were directly related to anime, but not just anime guests and not just anime artists.

00:08:05.752 --> 00:08:12.454
So I feel like a fool that I've been declining to come to this event as a guest myself for years.

00:08:12.454 --> 00:08:16.245
So but yeah, I would say it was.

00:08:16.245 --> 00:08:18.331
It had everything that any con would have.

00:08:18.331 --> 00:08:29.151
It had artist alley, it had booths with anything you could think of Tons of different guests from all kinds of different genres of film and video games and cartoons.

00:08:29.151 --> 00:08:31.846
I'm sure they had panels.

00:08:31.846 --> 00:08:42.174
I think they even had like an adults-only or I don't know about X-rated adults-only room that sold adult-type items.

00:08:42.580 --> 00:08:44.365
Do you know what adult anime is called?

00:08:45.750 --> 00:08:46.091
Sling.

00:08:47.240 --> 00:08:49.986
Well, this guy does, and that's called hentai.

00:08:50.320 --> 00:08:51.062
Yeah, I knew that.

00:08:51.062 --> 00:08:51.866
I was just seeing.

00:08:51.866 --> 00:08:54.208
If you really knew that, that's why.

00:08:54.480 --> 00:09:00.883
I did and you can't see it, but I have a very, very sexy picture of something over here, but we'll save that for a different day.

00:09:01.466 --> 00:09:04.068
Yeah, Not just the second video episode.

00:09:04.440 --> 00:09:06.181
Yes, yeah, we got more time, mike.

00:09:06.181 --> 00:09:08.690
We got to interview Bill Sawyer and Sawyers.

00:09:08.690 --> 00:09:13.792
He is the voice of Doc Ock in the amazing Spider-Man video Not the amazing, sorry, let me phrase that.

00:09:13.792 --> 00:09:21.614
He was the voice of Doc Ock in Spider-Man, which is an amazing PS5 game, and PS4 game, spider-man 1 and 2.

00:09:21.614 --> 00:09:30.208
We've also got to interview courtney taylor, who was the voice of I, I, you know I guess you would call it the sole survivor of fallout 4.

00:09:30.549 --> 00:09:32.481
Fallout 4 is a big game to me, I know.

00:09:32.481 --> 00:09:35.308
You know fallout falls one of the biggest tv shows that come out last year.

00:09:35.308 --> 00:09:37.501
So we got to interview her as well.

00:09:37.501 --> 00:09:43.524
And you know, as I mentioned earlier, we got to interview, uh, the dub actor for a squid game.

00:09:43.524 --> 00:09:48.547
So let me tell you there's some fun stuff in here and we have a good time and Mike, interviewing those folks.

00:09:48.547 --> 00:09:53.489
It must have been a little bit intimidating, right, because you don't really know their animated or their gaming work.

00:09:53.489 --> 00:09:54.946
So what was that like?

00:09:54.946 --> 00:09:57.865
And I think you had it at the well, well, it was not my first rodeo.

00:10:02.104 --> 00:10:08.195
I can safely say I may have interviewed some other people on this show and not really known a thing about the genre.

00:10:08.195 --> 00:10:13.051
So I know how to bullshit my way through an interview or two.

00:10:13.051 --> 00:10:18.892
But you know what People are interesting and it doesn't really matter if you ask the right questions.

00:10:18.892 --> 00:10:22.889
You know everyone has something to say and everyone has something to ask.

00:10:23.551 --> 00:10:24.980
Right yeah, something like that.

00:10:24.980 --> 00:10:26.759
Everyone has something to say and everyone has something to ask, right, yeah?

00:10:26.759 --> 00:10:32.708
And also, I thought it was fun that you know we'll talk about it more in the episode, but you are a little celebrity to one of our guests, yeah.

00:10:32.989 --> 00:10:37.624
Well, I don't know about me, but you know those hats that I helped design?

00:10:37.624 --> 00:10:39.947
Yeah, they're.

00:10:39.947 --> 00:10:43.192
They're the celebrity, not me.

00:10:43.192 --> 00:10:49.240
No, I'm not.

00:10:49.240 --> 00:10:50.182
I'm the tarot certified celebrity on here.

00:10:50.201 --> 00:10:51.024
yes, that's right, there we go, there we go.

00:10:51.024 --> 00:10:56.864
Okay, so, before we hand it over to our past selves as they go back in time, if you will, I have a game for you to play.

00:10:56.864 --> 00:11:00.523
So, for those who don't know, I make mike do dumb things on this show, isn't that right, mike?

00:11:01.605 --> 00:11:02.567
oh, these are dumb things.

00:11:02.567 --> 00:11:11.928
Thank you for uh for validating that okay no they're not done, they're fun they're fun dumb things they're fun, dumb things indeed.

00:11:12.210 --> 00:11:15.625
And uh, we're gonna play a little game, uh, we're gonna play something very easy.

00:11:15.645 --> 00:11:23.226
It's anime trivia, that's it great, I should do great, then you've really, really set me up for success here.

00:11:23.748 --> 00:11:28.054
Well, it's the five easiest questions you can come up with.

00:11:28.054 --> 00:11:31.548
So if you get all five right, I'm going to pick a random.

00:11:31.548 --> 00:11:32.532
That's right.

00:11:32.532 --> 00:11:39.254
A random subscriber will win a special anime prize that I have in my vault, in my safe, the Uncle Dad's safe.

00:11:39.254 --> 00:11:44.943
Mike, there's some stuff in there, you know that, and I will pick a random subscriber and you will win this gift.

00:11:44.943 --> 00:11:47.888
There's some stuff in there, you know that, and I will pick a random subscriber and you will win this gift.

00:11:47.888 --> 00:11:51.113
So, without further ado, mike, are you ready to win somebody a fun prize from the Uncle Dad Vault?

00:11:51.974 --> 00:11:52.674
I'll do my best.

00:11:55.942 --> 00:11:56.464
Unknown person.

00:11:56.464 --> 00:11:56.945
Yes, all right.

00:11:56.945 --> 00:12:00.350
So before we get to that, remember like, comment and subscribe and be a part of the fun.

00:12:00.350 --> 00:12:01.312
All right, here we go, mike.

00:12:01.312 --> 00:12:04.620
We're going to kick it off real easy, here we go, mike.

00:12:04.620 --> 00:12:06.105
We're going to kick it off real easy, here we go.

00:12:06.105 --> 00:12:07.009
What country is anime from?

00:12:07.009 --> 00:12:07.610
Japan?

00:12:07.610 --> 00:12:09.597
Boom, he got the first one.

00:12:09.597 --> 00:12:10.200
That's one point.

00:12:10.200 --> 00:12:14.308
Whoa, people are going to be like come on, man.

00:12:14.830 --> 00:12:16.734
I mean, I had to think about it for a sec.

00:12:17.899 --> 00:12:22.994
All right, mike, you don't have to say the full name, you just got to give me the last name at least.

00:12:22.994 --> 00:12:29.524
Who directed the phenomenal movie Princess?

00:12:29.745 --> 00:12:35.331
Mononoke Studio Gigli Gigli.

00:12:37.956 --> 00:12:39.562
There goes our new anime following.

00:12:39.562 --> 00:12:44.442
I'll tell you what I feel generous today, so I'm going to give that to you.

00:12:44.442 --> 00:12:55.667
It's Studio Ghibli, yeah, but it's directed by Hayao Miyazaki, oh yeah, it's one of the most legendary animators of all time I've seen it?

00:12:55.667 --> 00:12:57.029
Yeah, I have seen it.

00:12:57.029 --> 00:12:58.653
Okay, did you like it?

00:12:58.653 --> 00:13:01.378
Yeah, it's a great message.

00:13:01.378 --> 00:13:02.640
I can see that hitting you really hard, man.

00:13:02.640 --> 00:13:03.121
It's a great message.

00:13:03.121 --> 00:13:04.744
I can see that hitting you really hard, man.

00:13:04.744 --> 00:13:06.865
Yeah, yeah.

00:13:06.885 --> 00:13:08.807
There were some good ones in there that they made.

00:13:09.448 --> 00:13:10.048
All right, here we go.

00:13:10.048 --> 00:13:13.874
What was the first anime movie to win an Oscar?

00:13:13.874 --> 00:13:18.861
I will give you three choices.

00:13:18.861 --> 00:13:20.585
Spirited Away, princess Mononoke.

00:13:21.888 --> 00:13:24.773
Ponyo, Ponyo, no, Spirited Away, there you go.

00:13:24.773 --> 00:13:31.605
Yeah See, that was my first in my head, that was my first choice, but then I went.

00:13:31.605 --> 00:13:36.105
I don't know, I panicked hey three for three baby.

00:13:36.105 --> 00:13:41.077
There we go See, all right, all right all right.

00:13:41.618 --> 00:13:46.144
What anime series follows the adventures of goku?

00:13:46.144 --> 00:13:58.659
Goku, oh um, they're dragon ball z there, you go there you go fun fact, mike, if you go back to our catalog, we actually had the voice of young goku on the show, so that's right.

00:13:58.659 --> 00:13:59.822
Yeah, go check that out.

00:13:59.822 --> 00:14:02.148
And all right, sir, you gotta get this one.

00:14:02.148 --> 00:14:04.058
I wouldn't be so sad if you don't get this one.

00:14:04.058 --> 00:14:07.485
I'm probably going to have to give you multiple choices, though.

00:14:07.485 --> 00:14:08.509
All right.

00:14:08.509 --> 00:14:15.928
From the TV animated series Pokemon, what was Ash's surname?

00:14:15.928 --> 00:14:22.323
Was it Katsup Ketchup, ketchum?

00:14:23.225 --> 00:14:23.605
Ketchup.

00:14:25.327 --> 00:14:25.849
Holy crap, mike.

00:14:25.849 --> 00:14:28.029
Mike, you just got all five questions.

00:14:28.029 --> 00:14:30.721
Yeah, how do you feel right now?

00:14:31.221 --> 00:14:33.768
well, you know that third one I kind of missed a little bit.

00:14:33.768 --> 00:14:36.198
I got the rebound really quick and I got it right back up there.

00:14:36.198 --> 00:14:37.222
So I feel great.

00:14:37.222 --> 00:14:41.082
Man, you know like coach put me in and you know we just keep playing hard.

00:14:41.082 --> 00:14:46.389
And you know, just like you know I know, if we just keep playing hard and you know I just like you know I know if we just, you know, play with some effort, we'll just get the win.

00:14:47.434 --> 00:14:48.678
Hey, and that's what you did.

00:14:48.678 --> 00:14:49.481
You got the win.

00:14:49.481 --> 00:14:50.225
That's right.

00:14:50.225 --> 00:14:52.282
You got the win for one of our audience members.

00:14:52.282 --> 00:15:14.278
And so what that means is, before we go into the next slide, there will be a little picture that pops up, and that picture will show who won this special animated themed prize from the Uncle Dad vault and Mike knows we have a lot of fun stuff in that vault because you know, we do a lot of these shows and we get gifted a lot of things.

00:15:14.278 --> 00:15:15.679
Yeah, that's going to be good for you, whoever that is.

00:15:15.679 --> 00:15:20.307
But yeah, mike, I think that's all I got for this little intro of ours.

00:15:21.509 --> 00:15:22.350
Well, I think that was great.

00:15:22.350 --> 00:15:26.212
You know, and I think you know next time we're going to come out and we're going to play hard again.

00:15:26.212 --> 00:15:31.067
And you know it's a long season and you know one game is one game.

00:15:31.067 --> 00:15:32.625
So we just got to keep playing hard.

00:15:33.048 --> 00:15:33.873
Got to keep playing hard.

00:15:33.873 --> 00:15:34.134
That's it.

00:15:34.134 --> 00:15:40.302
That's it and the order for us to keep playing hard.

00:15:40.302 --> 00:15:41.923
All you got to do?

00:15:41.923 --> 00:15:49.958
And follow us at UncleDadTalks and of course, follow my man here, justmike, at Mike Hampton Art and of course, check out the website UncleDadTalkscom.

00:15:49.958 --> 00:15:50.780
I guess that's it.

00:15:50.780 --> 00:15:59.116
So, without further ado, for the second time, we're not uncles, we're not dads, we're just someone you can talk to and we will physically see you next week.

00:15:59.116 --> 00:16:05.885
What up everybody?

00:16:05.885 --> 00:16:14.967
Uncle Dad here hanging out with not my captain, but he'll be here in a little bit arguably the second sexiest person on our cast of characters, the uncle dad alumni, if you will.

00:16:14.967 --> 00:16:18.835
You know him from other things he's done with me, such as these very short-lived old-timey radio.

00:16:18.835 --> 00:16:19.636
But that'll come back.

00:16:19.636 --> 00:16:24.346
Let's give it up for the one, the only, the man of many moods, chris wisney.

00:16:24.346 --> 00:16:26.618
Many moods, what's that mean?

00:16:26.618 --> 00:16:27.059
I don't know.

00:16:27.059 --> 00:16:28.907
I just I gotta you know throw adjectives.

00:16:29.489 --> 00:16:29.590
I.

00:16:29.590 --> 00:16:35.605
I was feeling so excited and then you dropped that many moods right as you passed the mic over, like what the fuck?

00:16:35.605 --> 00:16:37.037
Yeah, I'm totally uh.

00:16:37.037 --> 00:16:39.402
I I'm uh at unease all of a sudden.

00:16:39.402 --> 00:16:40.765
Now I don't know where to take this.

00:16:40.765 --> 00:16:41.836
So your mood changed.

00:16:41.855 --> 00:16:42.878
So you are a man of many moods.

00:16:42.878 --> 00:16:44.682
You're here filling in really fast for Mike.

00:16:44.682 --> 00:16:50.186
It's always great to see you really it is and I just wanted to kind of ask you know how have things been since the last time I talked to you.

00:16:50.855 --> 00:17:03.727
Oh, doing really well For those of you in the audience who can't see us, we just happened to wind up at lunch together, a delightful meal catching up with friends, so thank you for having me along.

00:17:03.727 --> 00:17:04.127
I love.

00:17:04.228 --> 00:17:12.057
Whenever you're here, I I overjoice with happiness because I love getting to talk to you and all those good things and it's always a good time.

00:17:12.057 --> 00:17:14.063
We're gonna kick off this episode.

00:17:14.063 --> 00:17:17.057
We're in sack anime fun fact uh, for the listeners and for you.

00:17:17.057 --> 00:17:17.638
Chris was there.

00:17:17.638 --> 00:17:24.705
This is our first time ever covering this, because mike has no interest in anime well, this is uh, that's not the only first.

00:17:24.786 --> 00:17:28.143
This is the first time I've ever been to this show and it's a busy show.

00:17:28.143 --> 00:17:29.826
It's hopping, no doubt about it.

00:17:29.826 --> 00:17:30.916
Would you make anime?

00:17:30.916 --> 00:17:33.903
Anime is not in my wheel, well, okay.

00:17:34.224 --> 00:17:39.770
I like the idea of Chris Wozniak making a very smart anime, maybe if someone else drew it.

00:17:39.852 --> 00:17:43.462
I'll have to research the types of stories people enjoy and see it.

00:17:43.462 --> 00:17:44.164
I'll draw it for you.

00:17:49.134 --> 00:17:50.819
Okay, perfect, it's a date Exactly exactly, so you know so to have you on here.

00:17:50.839 --> 00:17:52.807
Please tell our audience where they can connect with you all that good stuff Boy.

00:17:52.807 --> 00:17:55.576
Well, probably the easiest place is my social media.

00:17:55.576 --> 00:17:59.560
I'm on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter at Chris Wisnia Arts.

00:17:59.560 --> 00:18:10.999
I also have a website with all my exciting most recent and uh, all the rest, uh, artwork and stories and etc.

00:18:10.999 --> 00:18:14.763
Uh, and, as well, I'm on youtube.

00:18:14.763 --> 00:18:19.215
All the handles are at chris wisnia arts, so go check him out.

00:18:19.778 --> 00:18:23.618
He's seriously one of the greatest individuals I know in this company business chris wisnia.

00:18:23.618 --> 00:18:25.505
Everybody give me a round of applause for Chris Wisnia.

00:18:26.756 --> 00:18:27.460
Hey, what's up everybody?

00:18:27.460 --> 00:18:29.722
This is Ming Chen from AC Comic Book Band.

00:18:29.722 --> 00:18:33.482
You may have seen me a couple of Kevin Smith movies or just writing on his coattails.

00:18:33.482 --> 00:18:35.902
He also taught me how to podcast.

00:18:35.902 --> 00:18:37.119
I love podcasting.

00:18:37.119 --> 00:18:39.201
I have podcasts, I have podcast studios.

00:18:39.201 --> 00:18:43.443
None of that matters, because the only thing that matters is Uncle Dad Talks, everybody.

00:18:43.443 --> 00:18:44.185
Uncle Dad Talks.

00:18:44.185 --> 00:18:44.906
We go way back.

00:18:44.906 --> 00:18:50.744
He's an inspiration, he makes me be a better podcaster and he's all I want to listen to.

00:18:50.744 --> 00:18:55.402
So when Uncle Dad Talks, you should be listening, listen up everybody.

00:18:58.489 --> 00:19:03.955
Yo Uncle Dad back in the building of Sack Anime with my man Latera, certified Sexy Just Mike.

00:19:04.196 --> 00:19:10.667
Well, let me just give a shout out to the ever so elusive Chris Wisnia, who did the intro for me.

00:19:10.667 --> 00:19:11.208
Thank you, chris.

00:19:11.449 --> 00:19:14.301
Yeah, thank you, chris, you're almost a little bit better he probably is better.

00:19:14.502 --> 00:19:14.943
He's wittier.

00:19:14.943 --> 00:19:16.656
Well, replace me with him.

00:19:16.856 --> 00:19:17.298
No, how dare you?

00:19:17.298 --> 00:19:29.837
You're my man, all right, so we are at SAC Anime Mike, you're not really an anime guy, but you know that it exists and you know that it's real, so like what's the last anime you ever watched?

00:19:29.877 --> 00:19:30.660
Spirited Away.

00:19:31.480 --> 00:19:32.682
Okay, okay, that's a good one.

00:19:32.682 --> 00:19:35.307
That's a great movie, very emotional movie for me.

00:19:35.307 --> 00:19:36.868
I love it.

00:19:40.438 --> 00:19:41.619
What's the last video game you ever played?

00:19:41.619 --> 00:19:42.862
Mario Brothers, I'd say Left 4 Dead.

00:19:42.882 --> 00:19:43.462
Yeah, Left 4 Dead.

00:19:43.624 --> 00:19:44.404
Left 4 Dead.

00:19:44.404 --> 00:19:45.105
Yeah, Left 4 Dead.

00:19:45.185 --> 00:19:45.646
Left 4 Dead.

00:19:45.646 --> 00:19:49.155
Okay, Well, we're hanging out, we're going to get some interviews.

00:19:49.155 --> 00:19:50.276
Hopefully, this is something we haven't.

00:19:50.276 --> 00:19:51.896
We've never done this show before.

00:19:51.896 --> 00:19:53.679
You know the people behind it.

00:19:53.679 --> 00:19:55.480
I don't know, if you want do you want to give them a shout out or anything?

00:19:55.480 --> 00:19:56.580
We're cool off that.

00:19:56.721 --> 00:20:02.565
Let's just give a shout out to the people who run the S and you know it's been a long-running convention and it's huge.

00:20:02.565 --> 00:20:10.349
And so we have a lot of friends here and so we're here and hopefully talk to some of the celebrity guests, because there's a ton of them here.

00:20:10.730 --> 00:20:12.191
A ton of them here, a lot of anime.

00:20:12.191 --> 00:20:14.353
So there's also some Uncle Dad alumni here.

00:20:14.353 --> 00:20:16.798
There's Uncle Dad friends here.

00:20:16.798 --> 00:20:25.195
Pretty soon, I'm telling you, all these cons are going to be Uncle Dad con In some form or another.

00:20:25.195 --> 00:20:25.375
Another.

00:20:25.375 --> 00:20:30.104
We have something to do with the con exactly so uncle dad con 2025, maybe whoa, whoa, whoa too much.

00:20:30.684 --> 00:20:31.987
What will we hold it at a brewery?

00:20:31.987 --> 00:20:37.664
All right, we'll be right back on this break hey, what's up?

00:20:37.684 --> 00:20:48.909
this is suly mccullough crazy legs from don't be a menace to south central, while drinking your juice in the hood and you're listening to Uncle Dad Talks Podcast.

00:20:51.718 --> 00:20:54.261
That's right Yo everybody, Uncle Dad here Hanging out with Just Mike, Mike say hello.

00:20:54.461 --> 00:20:55.223
Hello, hello.

00:20:55.503 --> 00:20:58.449
We're hanging out with somebody who I've been trying to get on this show for a very long time.

00:20:58.449 --> 00:21:06.923
I doubt he remembers this, but I actually met you at Comic-con la the year of covid and, uh, I remember getting your email address, do you?

00:21:06.923 --> 00:21:20.036
I doubt you remember that, but I was with somebody, uh, who was my partner at the time and she, uh, she was a big fan of yours and she got, um, I forgot the character's name, but that character, morden, yes, morden solis, yeah, yeah, and so, yes, and so, uh, this is finally happening.

00:21:20.036 --> 00:21:21.920
So it feels very surreal to me right now.

00:21:21.920 --> 00:21:26.460
So thank you for that, but let's just kind of go Bill Sayers or William.

00:21:26.601 --> 00:21:30.540
Bill Sayers, but I go by Bill William's just for contracts and credits.

00:21:31.001 --> 00:21:31.744
So we'll just call him Bill.

00:21:31.744 --> 00:21:32.698
All right, bill.

00:21:32.698 --> 00:21:33.541
Regular show.

00:21:33.541 --> 00:21:36.163
What has been your craziest memory while doing that show?

00:21:36.415 --> 00:21:37.575
My craziest memory.

00:21:37.575 --> 00:21:40.884
Wow, there's been a lot of really funny people on that show.

00:21:40.884 --> 00:21:50.337
There was a time our engineer, robert, used to like to listen for really incriminating clips where we would say something unfortunate and then he'd just play it back to us over and over again.

00:21:50.337 --> 00:22:02.800
And Roger Craig Smith was quoting a girl talking about eating at Five Guys and he quoted her and said that this lady apparently said well, five Guys in your mouth, great, but five guys in your stomach.

00:22:02.800 --> 00:22:10.002
And that was replayed on a loop over and over and over again, and the fact that it was Roger's voice was even funnier.

00:22:10.002 --> 00:22:10.825
How does that feel to you?

00:22:11.095 --> 00:22:15.987
Well, I always say five guys in your wallet after I go to Five Guys, because that place is not cheap.

00:22:16.174 --> 00:22:16.395
Right.

00:22:16.395 --> 00:22:20.905
Well, you know these important Hollywood types.

00:22:20.905 --> 00:22:22.127
They go to the best places.

00:22:22.555 --> 00:22:24.079
Of course, and you're important too, though you know.

00:22:24.079 --> 00:22:29.073
Speaking of importance, you play arguably one of the most important characters in gaming right now.

00:22:29.073 --> 00:22:30.981
It's Dr Octavius in the Spider-Man games.

00:22:30.981 --> 00:22:35.162
My man here is a very big fan of Spider-Man, and so I just go ahead and let him have it.

00:22:35.576 --> 00:22:36.117
Well, bill.

00:22:36.117 --> 00:22:39.663
So first of all, were you a fan of Spider-Man before you did the game?

00:22:39.843 --> 00:22:45.606
I would consider myself a casual fan and, oddly, I think that that really helped because I wasn't trying to.

00:22:45.606 --> 00:23:17.997
I get asked all the time if I, if I based him, if I looked at fred's work again or if I or if I went back to the comic books or anything like that, and I really tried to just take my auto octavius from the script and um and, and I was glad I was able to do that your octavius, in my opinion, speaks in volumes in ways that it's honestly probably as close as what's his name from spider-man 2 javier bardem, or javier bardem, yeah javier bardem from melina fred yeah yeah, it speaks to me in that same level and I'm not gonna lie to you and I really don't, and I really mean this.

00:23:18.679 --> 00:23:19.121
Some respects.

00:23:19.121 --> 00:23:21.596
I think that before your performance is better than his thank you.

00:23:21.656 --> 00:23:24.644
You know the thing that I I met fred and he I've also seen him on stage.

00:23:24.644 --> 00:23:25.566
He's an amazing actor.

00:23:25.566 --> 00:23:29.381
But one of the things I always try to point out and to keep in mind myself is Fred.

00:23:29.381 --> 00:23:35.861
Fred had, you know, two hours to, to, to, to keep 17 year olds on the edge of their seats, and I got all of that.

00:23:35.861 --> 00:23:42.030
Really as much as you wanted to find out about doc, you know, was all written into that beautiful script.

00:23:42.030 --> 00:23:49.086
So I just, I just had, in my opinion, I had better writing to work with, but I definitely had more writing to work with.

00:23:49.335 --> 00:23:52.885
Well, I think you speak to it in a more truthful way too, like it comes off very truthful.

00:23:52.885 --> 00:23:56.025
I think in acting right, it always needs to speak truthfully to you and to the audience, right?

00:23:56.025 --> 00:24:08.849
So I think when you did your performance it comes off truthfully, comes off honest, and I think you know, know, he doesn't play a lot of games, but I think if he did play this game it would blow his mind well, yeah, I mean, I have a spider-man number 50 tattoo on my arms.

00:24:08.890 --> 00:24:10.151
I'm a huge like that's one.

00:24:10.151 --> 00:24:11.192
It's one of my favorites.

00:24:11.192 --> 00:24:22.477
So is there a comic book that you could pull out that would be your favorite, or is that too far away from from what your interests are as okay, this is, this is, this is gordy.

00:24:22.518 --> 00:24:23.199
Nobody really cares.

00:24:23.199 --> 00:24:40.567
I was really big into the shadow and the reason I dug him the reason I dug lamont cranston was kind of the same reason I dig batman is it's like he there was no, like he wasn't from a foreign planet, he wasn't like an alien planet, he wasn't bitten by a radioactive spider, he just like did it all himself.

00:24:40.567 --> 00:24:43.098
You know what I mean and that that always kind of appealed to me.

00:24:43.239 --> 00:24:45.963
So yeah, wow, I, this is incredible.

00:24:45.963 --> 00:24:51.019
I I don't want to take too much of your time because you have a line building so we're going to go, but I just can you do me a favor?

00:24:51.019 --> 00:24:53.457
Yes, cause I need something so bad.

00:24:53.457 --> 00:25:04.871
My favorite thing in the regular show was when everybody would off let's do it, you all do it together yeah all right three, two, one.

00:25:05.071 --> 00:25:08.277
Oh, all right everybody, we'll be right back on this break.

00:25:08.277 --> 00:25:09.119
Thank you all.

00:25:09.119 --> 00:25:09.641
Right everybody.

00:25:09.641 --> 00:25:10.965
Uncle dad here hanging out, just mike.

00:25:10.965 --> 00:25:14.003
Just mike, don't say hello, because you always say hello, so give me a what up what up?

00:25:14.003 --> 00:25:14.486
There we go.

00:25:14.486 --> 00:25:17.663
We're hanging out with somebody whose voice you might recognize.

00:25:17.663 --> 00:25:19.657
I don't know if he wants to throw a voice out there, we can.

00:25:19.657 --> 00:25:20.659
If he wants to, please do.

00:25:20.659 --> 00:25:21.381
If not, no worries.

00:25:21.381 --> 00:25:22.824
But we're hanging out with Greg Shun.

00:25:22.844 --> 00:25:24.226
How are you, I'm good.

00:25:24.226 --> 00:25:25.328
Oh voice line.

00:25:25.328 --> 00:25:30.397
Wow, I wish I could scream today and do the Squid Game line, but I shot my voice the first day screaming.

00:25:30.397 --> 00:25:33.938
I've played these games before, so maybe I can give you a little muse on.

00:25:33.938 --> 00:25:37.924
Why do you exist if your sole purpose has become to disappoint me?

00:25:38.807 --> 00:25:40.349
Wow, that just gave me shivers.

00:25:40.349 --> 00:25:45.078
I, that just gave me shivers.

00:25:45.078 --> 00:25:46.346
I ask myself that in the mirror every morning when I wake up.

00:25:46.346 --> 00:25:47.835
So, greg, you've done a lot of work, a lot of great things.

00:25:47.835 --> 00:25:50.483
Let me ask you, what is your favorite piece of work that you've ever done?

00:25:51.035 --> 00:25:59.069
My favorite, absolute favorite piece of work that I've ever done is Yagami, from a game called Judgment and Lost Judgment two games from RGG.

00:25:59.069 --> 00:26:04.859
It was my first real lead role in a video game, a big video game, and you never forget your first time.

00:26:04.859 --> 00:26:06.662
You know you never do right, mike.

00:26:07.021 --> 00:26:07.442
I forgot.

00:26:07.643 --> 00:26:09.203
Mike, I know you had something you wanted to ask.

00:26:09.604 --> 00:26:10.184
Yeah, greg.

00:26:10.184 --> 00:26:16.171
So like I know you from Squid Games Everyone knows Squid Games the show is giving me nightmares.

00:26:16.171 --> 00:26:17.751
So are you a horror guy?

00:26:17.751 --> 00:26:21.984
Does that show give you nightmares or are you able to just go and do your work and it doesn't affect you?

00:26:22.066 --> 00:26:22.768
in any way at all.

00:26:22.768 --> 00:26:24.795
So I do love horror movies.

00:26:24.795 --> 00:26:28.005
It takes quite a bit, I think, to really get to me.

00:26:28.005 --> 00:26:30.983
So Squid Game doesn't really faze me honestly.

00:26:30.983 --> 00:26:32.840
Hereditary, that fazed me.

00:26:32.840 --> 00:26:34.381
The Shining fazed me.

00:26:34.381 --> 00:26:38.005
Midsommar Eli Roth's stuff gives me nightmares in a different way.

00:26:38.005 --> 00:26:41.244
So a lot of movies really have kind of scarred and traumatized me.

00:26:41.244 --> 00:26:43.567
For some reason I just keep coming back to watch them because I love them.

00:26:43.567 --> 00:26:45.167
I'm very drawn to horror movies.

00:26:45.768 --> 00:26:50.192
Well, I love that because I'm very drawn to horror movies, and my favorite movie of all time is midsummer.

00:26:50.192 --> 00:26:55.265
We talk about that so much on this show, uh, and I'm curious, since we're just, you know, to get to know you a little bit.

00:26:55.265 --> 00:26:58.979
What was your, what is your initial thought of the ending of that?

00:26:59.019 --> 00:26:59.259
film.

00:26:59.259 --> 00:27:03.546
I mean, at the end I was just so kind of on edge and exhausted.

00:27:03.546 --> 00:27:07.037
I was like okay, like what am I looking at here?

00:27:07.037 --> 00:27:09.624
Like I'm horrified, but what does this mean?

00:27:09.624 --> 00:27:14.469
And I was trying to search for, sort of thematically, what all that whole last scene was about.

00:27:14.469 --> 00:27:16.135
And, honestly, I couldn't figure it out.

00:27:16.135 --> 00:27:22.398
I was just so confused and terrified and I just walked away going well, that was upsetting, yeah, you know and it's funny.

00:27:22.459 --> 00:27:25.365
So for me I watched that movie probably 10 times a month, like I'm not kidding.

00:27:25.365 --> 00:27:31.227
I love that movie and what I kind of take from it is that it feels almost like a backwards family movie.

00:27:31.227 --> 00:27:51.051
A backwards family movie, the sense that the whole movie is about loss of family and then gaining a family, and so when you think about it at the end, when she's laughing- spoilers, by the way and she's laughing.

00:27:50.954 --> 00:27:53.267
You know, she's upset, she's laughing and she gives you that tiny little smile because she realizes at that moment I have found my family.

00:27:53.267 --> 00:27:53.700
I guess that's true.

00:27:53.700 --> 00:27:54.092
You know, I don't even know if I made that connection.

00:27:54.092 --> 00:27:56.699
I thought it was just a creepy kind of like oh, she's lost her mind, kind of thing.

00:27:56.699 --> 00:28:01.779
You know, see that too, yeah, and so, um, if I look at that now, I'm gonna watch it again because of you.

00:28:01.779 --> 00:28:02.721
I hope you do.

00:28:02.721 --> 00:28:07.339
No, I honestly will, because I want to see it through that lens and I'm going to be upset for days, but I'm going to do it.

00:28:07.661 --> 00:28:08.282
I hope you do, Mike.

00:28:08.282 --> 00:28:09.125
What's your thoughts on Midsommar?

00:28:09.335 --> 00:28:13.979
Well, if you watch it 10 times a month, you might get a different meaning out of it than anyone else.

00:28:15.660 --> 00:28:16.701
All right.

00:28:16.701 --> 00:28:19.303
Well, okay, don't make me show.

00:28:19.303 --> 00:28:20.703
You voiced the English dub on that.

00:28:20.703 --> 00:28:22.685
Let me ask you this what was that?

00:28:22.685 --> 00:28:24.846
Did you ever expect that show?

00:28:25.008 --> 00:28:27.068
to be what it became Absolutely not.

00:28:27.068 --> 00:28:29.030
You know, it was just when we did season one.

00:28:29.030 --> 00:28:31.092
It was just another Korean dub.

00:28:31.092 --> 00:28:38.320
There's lots of media coming over from Korea and we've dubbed a ton of Korean shows.

00:28:38.320 --> 00:28:41.007
I will say that that first episode of season one when they're playing, is it the first or second episode?

00:28:41.027 --> 00:28:49.026
they're playing Red Light, green Light, I think it's the second when that moment hit and the first person got shot.

00:28:49.026 --> 00:28:49.887
I mean, everybody's seen it.

00:28:49.887 --> 00:28:57.746
When the first person gets shot in that episode, that's kind of when my jaw dropped in the recording booth and I'm like I'm interested to see what happens right now.

00:28:57.746 --> 00:29:05.449
So I did think later maybe people will enjoy watching this, but I never thought it was going to be this phenomenon like that.

00:29:05.674 --> 00:29:08.183
I mean it's a phenomenon that I think we haven't seen in a very long time.

00:29:08.183 --> 00:29:09.586
We were very grateful.

00:29:09.586 --> 00:29:06.170
Phenomenon like that, yeah, I mean it's a phenomenon that I think we haven't seen in a very long time.

00:29:06.170 --> 00:29:06.382
You know, we were.

00:29:06.382 --> 00:29:06.895
We were very grateful.

00:29:06.895 --> 00:29:16.000
We actually got to have uh, I'm going to say his name, hopefully not wrong, but Lee young hunt, he don't get a key on.

00:29:16.154 --> 00:29:17.304
You mean the guy who plays Gion.

00:29:17.625 --> 00:29:19.020
Yeah, who plays the mask?

00:29:19.020 --> 00:29:37.218
That's the black mask, and so it's very exciting to have another member of the Squid Game family on the show and talk about the importance of also not just that show, but also representation.

00:29:37.218 --> 00:29:39.419
It's great seeing Asian representation on screen more, and I think we need to see that consistently.

00:29:39.419 --> 00:29:41.500
So you're a part of that and I think you should be very proud of that.

00:29:41.500 --> 00:29:43.682
So, yeah, I just thank you for doing that.

00:29:43.682 --> 00:29:46.143
So before I wrap up, mike, do you have any last words?

00:29:46.663 --> 00:29:49.464
Well, I'm going to go home and watch Squid Game a couple more times.

00:29:49.645 --> 00:29:50.165
Ten more times?

00:29:50.165 --> 00:29:54.848
Okay, every month, every month, I'll work on an audience for more about you, if that's okay.

00:29:54.909 --> 00:29:56.750
No, oh no, rob, follow my socials.

00:29:56.750 --> 00:30:00.791
Greg Chun VA like everywhere Insta, tiktok, all that stuff.

00:30:00.791 --> 00:30:03.277
Greg Chun VA Awesome.

00:30:03.277 --> 00:30:06.565
Go check them out and we'll all right, everybody.

00:30:06.605 --> 00:30:12.077
Uncle dad here hanging out with just mike, mike, give me a oh, hell, yeah, hell, yeah, I love it.

00:30:12.077 --> 00:30:16.858
We are with somebody that I've also wanted to get on the show for a long time, who's a fan of yours, which is awesome.

00:30:16.858 --> 00:30:27.526
Let's give it up for the my favorite game of all time the female voice of a main character in fallout 4, courtney taylor.

00:30:27.526 --> 00:30:27.906
What's up?

00:30:27.926 --> 00:30:28.307
hi, how are you?

00:30:28.307 --> 00:30:28.568
Oh hell, yeah.

00:30:28.568 --> 00:30:28.969
Is that what we say?

00:30:28.969 --> 00:30:29.329
Yeah, are you?

00:30:29.329 --> 00:30:30.112
Oh hell, yeah.

00:30:30.112 --> 00:30:30.952
Is that what we say?

00:30:30.952 --> 00:30:33.105
Yeah, we say that oh hell yeah.

00:30:33.105 --> 00:30:38.487
It's me, courtney Taylor from Fallout 4, voice of Nora, female soul survivor.

00:30:39.376 --> 00:30:56.800
Yeah, I don't want to fanboy too much because we never really talked about my love for Fallout, so I'm just going to tell you this I went through a lot of weird emotional things the past two years and I have to tell you this that game is probably the saving grace to my life, because I only played the female, because I think the female one, women are, women are awesome, that's right.

00:30:56.800 --> 00:30:57.741
Women are strong.

00:30:57.741 --> 00:31:06.317
Oh hell yeah, and you had, I think you had a better performance, not to say the other performance wasn't great, I just think different and the perspective is a little bit better, I think.

00:31:06.317 --> 00:31:12.509
And so that playing that game, I beat that game probably seven times in the past two years because it means so much to me.

00:31:12.509 --> 00:31:14.722
So, with that being said, thank you for that.

00:31:15.115 --> 00:31:16.180
Thank you for telling me that.

00:31:16.180 --> 00:31:19.003
It is one of the great rewards of doing this job.

00:31:19.003 --> 00:31:31.368
We spend so much time in a booth by ourselves, so when we get to come out in public and actually when they let us out of our booths and we get to hear stories like that, it makes a huge difference because a lot of times you can feel like you don't even know.

00:31:31.368 --> 00:31:39.539
You just send your work out into the world and then, once you get to a convention, you start talking to people and they start sharing their stories and it's huge.

00:31:39.539 --> 00:31:45.375
And I will say for the voice actors, it's the same, it's the same.

00:31:45.375 --> 00:31:53.864
I mean, I had a lot of stuff going on when I was recording that and over the two years that I was recording it, and so it was really cathartic for a lot of things.

00:31:53.864 --> 00:32:00.811
So I feel lucky to get to do this job and get to work through my own personal issues while I do it.

00:32:11.194 --> 00:32:11.440
Love that.

00:32:11.440 --> 00:32:12.161
I mean, mike, we talked about that a lot too, right.

00:32:12.161 --> 00:32:13.491
Sometimes you just need to put yourself in your art right, and when you put yourself in your art art, you can do things that you never thought you could do.

00:32:13.491 --> 00:32:13.680
Am I right saying that?

00:32:13.680 --> 00:32:17.890
Yeah, I mean, you throw yourself into a creative outlet, right, and then you probably bring apart what's within you that you don't even realize would even come out.

00:32:17.890 --> 00:32:28.746
So it's great that you have that outlet and also, uncle dad, that you have an outlet to play a game for two years and and beat it yeah, and that game would have been out for a long time now, right?

00:32:28.945 --> 00:32:31.430
Yeah, I think it came out in the end of 2015.

00:32:31.430 --> 00:32:32.818
And so that's also.

00:32:32.818 --> 00:32:53.926
What I love is that with Fallout 4, with Mass Effect, the trilogy, a lot of these games have so much material that if you're going to pay a lot of money for this game, at least you get hundreds and sometimes thousands of hours, and that they allow you to go back and revisit things, make different choices, and so you can replay it at a different point in your life, and it will be a completely different experience, hopefully.

00:32:53.946 --> 00:32:56.221
And I love that you said that, because I never played the DLC.

00:32:56.221 --> 00:33:00.840
I played it when it first came out right and I kind of stopped playing it and then I played it and I played it.

00:33:00.840 --> 00:33:14.521
But then I really dived into it the past few years and I was like, okay, now it's Fog Harbor or Far Harbor, yes, yeah, yeah, absolutely Probably the best piece of DLC and your performance in that is so good.

00:33:14.521 --> 00:33:16.301
But anyway, sorry, I get too excited about that.

00:33:16.301 --> 00:33:19.224
But I'm curious have you played Fallout 4, correct?

00:33:19.454 --> 00:33:21.262
I'm not a huge gamer, but I've played parts.

00:33:21.262 --> 00:33:24.817
I usually sit and watch people, but that was a lot of hours, sure.

00:33:24.957 --> 00:33:31.300
Well, I'm asking because I wanted to ask who would be your romancing partner, oh fall out full God.

00:33:31.580 --> 00:33:35.604
I mean me personally, probably, kate.

00:33:35.804 --> 00:33:38.246
Oh okay, okay, okay, I'll tell you mine.

00:33:38.246 --> 00:33:39.006
Mine was Piper.

00:33:39.165 --> 00:33:41.948
Yeah Well, everybody loves Piper, piper the investigator, come on now.

00:33:41.948 --> 00:33:44.490
She is great and you know, it just depends.

00:33:44.490 --> 00:33:45.710
I mean also it depends on them.

00:33:45.710 --> 00:33:47.490
I love that you can romance in.

00:33:47.490 --> 00:33:53.221
You know, in many games you can kind of romance like depends on the day, depends on who you are being in, any, you know.

00:33:53.221 --> 00:33:55.667
So I mean Nick Valentine's amazing as well.

00:33:55.667 --> 00:33:59.416
So you know, if you want to get weird, you could try the Silver Shroud.

00:33:59.416 --> 00:34:00.718
I don't know, you know.

00:34:00.718 --> 00:34:01.377
No, you could do that.

00:34:01.377 --> 00:34:04.339
Okay, I want to try that, you can't.

00:34:04.880 --> 00:34:14.306
But there are so many different things you know, and also knowing a lot of the people that have done these voices too Like I know them in person.

00:34:14.306 --> 00:34:19.170
So sometimes it also commingles where I'm like, well, they're amazing, they'd be really loving, I bet you, they'd give a great cuddle.

00:34:19.489 --> 00:34:22.050
So you know I want to know if I ever want to cuddle.

00:34:22.050 --> 00:34:22.672
Keep that in mind.

00:34:23.112 --> 00:34:25.434
Married to Superman, so maybe not Wait.

00:34:25.434 --> 00:34:26.778
Brandon Routh yes, Really.

00:34:26.918 --> 00:34:27.521
That's Brandon Routh.

00:34:27.521 --> 00:34:30.228
Oh wow, Brandon, you know Brandon Routh, Superman returns.

00:34:30.228 --> 00:34:32.342
Yeah, that's my favorite Superman too.

00:34:32.521 --> 00:34:32.762
Wow.

00:34:32.762 --> 00:34:34.422
So yeah, they're together.

00:34:34.916 --> 00:34:35.777
I can't beat Superman.

00:34:35.777 --> 00:34:36.298
What do you think?

00:34:36.760 --> 00:34:37.260
Oh hell no.

00:34:39.085 --> 00:34:39.646
I do want to talk.

00:34:39.646 --> 00:34:40.347
Sorry that was again.

00:34:40.347 --> 00:34:43.443
I do want to bring up something that's very passionate to you as well.

00:35:08.693 --> 00:35:16.739
Nerds, yes, it's a civic privilege and that you know we have the opportunity to help steer our country in large numbers if we get out there and do the things.

00:35:16.739 --> 00:35:18.943
So politics to me is partisan right.

00:35:18.943 --> 00:35:20.795
This isn't about being an American.

00:35:20.795 --> 00:35:24.644
This is the thing that should unite us all is the opportunity to vote.

00:35:24.644 --> 00:35:31.702
So, nerds, vote is about that, because I would rather people be, even if I personally disagree with someone.

00:35:31.702 --> 00:35:36.951
If people are educated and they're making educated, thoughtful choices, that's all you can really ask for, right?

00:35:36.951 --> 00:36:04.929
I mean, I can hope that they're going to make it from kindness, a state and a federal level, we could make this country really amazing, because that's what democracy is about is all of us having a say vote.

00:36:05.311 --> 00:36:10.313
I was disappointed by the turnout, but I am always disappointed because I want it to be 100%.

00:36:10.313 --> 00:36:13.300
I personally am sad.

00:36:13.300 --> 00:36:24.655
I want this country to be based on kindness and empathy and education, and the things that I feel are important are things that I don't think that the incoming administration values.

00:36:24.655 --> 00:36:28.340
I personally am a huge fan.

00:36:28.340 --> 00:36:58.347
I was a kid on welfare and I went to public school and I was raised by my mom and my my fairy godfather, and so the LGBTQ community is very important to me and I places come in to your country, what value and how that helps a country and creates diversity, strength and diversity.

00:36:58.347 --> 00:37:13.690
And as somebody who went to public school and was on welfare, I appreciated those programs because they allowed me to, as an adult, be someone who has a certain degree of success and able to give back, and those programs to me are things that I want to give back to because they helped me.

00:37:13.690 --> 00:37:22.099
I also believe strongly in a woman's right to healthcare and her right to choose what to do with her body, so those things are not going to be priorities.

00:37:22.318 --> 00:37:24.583
I don't think that that's a reason to give up.

00:37:25.686 --> 00:37:37.206
I think that the pendulum swings back and forth, but I think the more we get to know each other as people and fellow citizens and people from citizens of the world, we will.

00:37:37.206 --> 00:37:50.530
We will have a better country, and so I'm just going to continue to push for education, conversations and and trying to show people that a lot of the stuff that people are angry about right now is actually something that doesn't really affect their lives.

00:37:50.530 --> 00:38:08.161
I'm always amazed that people are so upset about transgender folks, because I grew up in San Francisco, I live in Los Angeles and, like you, would think that they like this is a huge problem, that everyone everywhere is like oh my God, everyone that's reading to my children are transgender.

00:38:08.161 --> 00:38:12.148
I guarantee you you know plenty of transgender people and it has never bothered you.

00:38:12.394 --> 00:38:24.742
So just trying to create bridges and introduce people so that they understand each other and can say, oh, this isn't something that I don't know, this isn't a scary concept, this is a real person.

00:38:24.742 --> 00:38:32.402
And if I'm talking about being a child of immigrants, if I'm talking about being on welfare and those kinds of things, it's not other.

00:38:32.402 --> 00:38:40.431
You know, once you stop othering people and get to know them, that's where we're going to come together and make this country really strong and fair and just.

00:38:44.500 --> 00:38:52.210
I absolutely love that, mike, as long as you stay true to you and the fact that we're all here trying to unite.

00:38:52.210 --> 00:38:54.844
I mean, that's why we do places like SAC Anime.

00:38:54.844 --> 00:38:58.615
It's just the places where people come together and share what they love and like.

00:38:58.615 --> 00:39:06.108
If we focus more on that, instead of focusing on like who shouldn't do what and what we think we hate, what we're scared of, like, we'd just be way better off.

00:39:06.108 --> 00:39:07.369
So yeah, Absolutely.

00:39:07.494 --> 00:39:09.983
And where can our audience connect with your platform?

00:39:10.255 --> 00:39:15.302
Nerdsvotecom is out there there's lots of your favorite voice actors and some on-camera actors as well.

00:39:15.302 --> 00:39:16.378
You can.

00:39:16.378 --> 00:39:23.844
If you see me at a con or if anybody has a Nerdsvote sign on their table, they'll usually have stickers that they can give away.

00:39:23.844 --> 00:39:27.985
You can register to vote on our platform, nerdsvotecom.

00:39:27.985 --> 00:39:31.577
You to vote on our platform, nerdsvotecom.

00:39:31.577 --> 00:39:32.318
You can check your registration.

00:39:32.318 --> 00:39:36.938
Always make sure that you're still on the rolls before an election and please vote in every election every time and you know there's plenty of other.

00:39:36.978 --> 00:39:55.038
Votegov is a great resource but always, you know, be sure that you're exercising your rights to vote in the local and nationwide, and I know that there's lots of us who are just trying to make sure that, especially people in this space.

00:39:55.038 --> 00:39:57.007
I'm really fond of the reason that Nerds Vote started was because I didn't see people trying.

00:39:57.007 --> 00:40:30.025
I would go to a concert and I would see people trying to register to vote, people to vote, but not in the nerd space, and I feel like, of all the people that should be voting, the people who come to conventions are creative, they're smart, understand the you know gamers, understand the consequences of your actions and Paragon and Renegade and all of these things translate into real life and so, and traditionally, a lot of people have not asked nerds what they want or what they believe in, and so now I want to make sure that there's a platform and a conduit so that they can use their voice just like I use my voice for good, hopefully.

00:40:30.224 --> 00:40:30.626
I love that.

00:40:30.626 --> 00:40:30.996
I can't.

00:40:30.996 --> 00:40:32.240
There's not more much I can say about that.

00:40:32.240 --> 00:40:32.762
That's amazing.

00:40:32.762 --> 00:40:35.742
But before we wrap it up, let's add a little fun in there.

00:40:35.742 --> 00:40:39.161
Let me ask you this what is your favorite talking about the subject of presidents?

00:40:39.161 --> 00:40:40.679
What's your favorite movie president?

00:40:40.679 --> 00:40:42.706
My favorite Movie president.

00:40:42.974 --> 00:40:50.340
President, my favorite movie president Well, I mean movie, I mean definitely TV, martin Sheen, west Wing, yeah, west Wing, yeah.

00:40:50.340 --> 00:40:52.523
And also the Elusive man in Mass Effect.

00:40:52.523 --> 00:40:54.463
So I mean what's not to love, right?

00:40:54.463 --> 00:40:56.226
So he's my go-to.

00:40:56.425 --> 00:40:57.045
I'll take that, Mike.

00:40:57.045 --> 00:40:59.347
Do you have one A favorite movie president?

00:40:59.648 --> 00:41:01.849
Yeah, jack Nicholson, in Mars Attacks.

00:41:02.510 --> 00:41:03.451
He was the president.

00:41:03.451 --> 00:41:06.577
Yes, okay, yeah, yeah, that was a deep cut.

00:41:06.577 --> 00:41:09.643
Yeah, all right, I got one Mine.

00:41:09.643 --> 00:41:14.461
Yeah, easy, harrison Ford, air Force One, get off my plane.

00:41:14.643 --> 00:41:19.876
Nice, anything that Harrison Ford does, and also just shameless plug for nothing that I have anything to do with.

00:41:19.876 --> 00:41:25.896
But if you're not watching Shrinking on Apple TV, I mean, get in there, it's the best.

00:41:26.135 --> 00:41:29.177
Where can our audience connect more with you personally on social media?

00:41:29.177 --> 00:41:29.757
All that good stuff.

00:41:30.257 --> 00:41:36.822
My name is spelled Courtney C-O-U-R-T-E-N-A-Y Courtney Taylor.

00:41:36.822 --> 00:41:42.264
I'm Courtney Taylor on Blue Sky and Courtney Taylor LA on Instagram.

00:41:42.264 --> 00:41:44.146
Nerds vote across all platforms.

00:41:44.146 --> 00:41:48.889
And yeah, make sure you spell it right, because N-E-Y is not me, Okay.

00:41:49.009 --> 00:41:49.710
Okay, I like it.

00:41:49.710 --> 00:41:49.989
All.

00:41:49.989 --> 00:41:51.331
Right, we'll be right back after this break.

00:41:51.331 --> 00:41:51.851
Thank you so much.

00:41:54.293 --> 00:42:00.682
Hello friends, I'm DJ Lance Rock and you're listening to the Uncle Dad Talks Podcast with Uncle Dad and Jess Mike.

00:42:00.682 --> 00:42:05.043
Check it out, because it's awesome.

00:42:08.068 --> 00:42:09.780
Alright, everybody, that's all good things.

00:42:09.780 --> 00:42:11.208
They must come to an end, and Sacad, they must come to an end.

00:42:11.208 --> 00:42:11.429
And sack.

00:42:11.429 --> 00:42:12.356
Anime has come to an end.

00:42:12.356 --> 00:42:15.143
Mike, we were hanging out in the middle of an alleyway doing our wrap-up.

00:42:15.164 --> 00:42:18.922
That's a first yeah, we have it, uh, wrapped up in an alleyway.

00:42:19.101 --> 00:42:21.387
So here we are it's not that dark, so that's good.

00:42:21.387 --> 00:42:23.623
Uh, mike, what is what an interesting show.

00:42:23.623 --> 00:42:27.318
You know this is your first sack anime experience, right, you've never done sack anime before.

00:42:27.318 --> 00:42:32.543
It was very busy, it was full of fun.

00:42:32.543 --> 00:42:34.599
We got to meet some great people.

00:42:34.599 --> 00:42:35.945
Yeah, what are your thoughts on it?

00:42:36.474 --> 00:42:37.519
I mean you've said it all.

00:42:37.519 --> 00:42:49.637
Yeah, it's like the con I've watched kind of grow from afar into this huge event where they get 30,000 people and we saw it was very busy and, yeah, we got to talk to some great guests.

00:42:49.677 --> 00:42:51.422
So absolutely, and I love that.

00:42:51.422 --> 00:42:53.775
We talked a little bit about, uh, boating and the importance of that.

00:42:53.775 --> 00:42:54.737
Please go check that out.

00:42:54.737 --> 00:42:57.565
Additionally, uh, you know it's really not much to say here.

00:42:57.565 --> 00:43:00.744
You guys kind of heard it all, but I will tell you this, guys, we got some great stuff coming.

00:43:00.744 --> 00:43:05.282
As we said earlier, we have a video coming no video for this episode, but that's okay.

00:43:05.282 --> 00:43:06.182
We got pictures.

00:43:06.182 --> 00:43:17.760
That and, of course, mike, they can check out the websites and learn more about us at UncleDadTalkscom and, of course, follow us on Instagram at UncleDadTalks and follow Mike just Mike at MikeHandsOfArt.

00:43:17.760 --> 00:43:19.340
And am I nailing it all?

00:43:19.480 --> 00:43:21.820
Well, yeah, and I think you gave me a new tagline.

00:43:23.902 --> 00:43:31.610
Oh hell, everybody, Remember, we're not fathers, sorry, we're not fathers, we're not fathers Sorry sorry, sorry, I can't remember the line.

00:43:31.610 --> 00:43:36.670
We're not uncles, we're not dads, we're just someone you can talk to, and we'll see you all next week.
